Tina,
these two images are from the N. Atlantic Tropical Depression 10 from 2005. They show what looks like a sheared storm (shear left to right). When you classify them we record those classifications and once we have ten users classify we retire the image. We then are in the process of analyzing all these returned classifications in appropriate ways to get estimates of their evolution and how certain we are in them. There is to be some really cool science arise from all this. I'm really excited by what we are finding and how good all our citizen scientists are at classifying. Watch this space and the blog for exciting updates on how good everyone is and the cool stuff we can do with all your returned estimates coming soon!
