Eye'm not sure....

  • Casna51 by Casna51

Starting to try to look at some of the individual storms. Is this a no, single or double #eye. This is a cool sequence because you can actually see the clouds (spiral?) coming around to form it.

Hi Casna, this is tough just by looking at this single image. It might help to see the full development of the storm up until this point. It could be a #ragged-eye (the bigger one) - the smaller clearing is probably just a gap in the clouds, not an eye. Judging by the structure of the storm around the proposed eye, I think it is possible that we have a very weak #eye-storm. It is also possible, though not as likely, that we have some #curved-bands that just happened to create the so-called eye at this particular time. I wonder what the IBTrACS data says for this particular time.

I think we have a mystery on our hooves... Very weak #eye-storm ?

I would estimate the winds are probably 50-60 kt (~25-30 m/s). I think a weak #eye-storm is as good of classification as any.
